It is a thermo-adaptive membrane made by Schoeller® in Switzerland: polymer fibres that physically open when your body temperature rises and close again when you cool down. Not a vent. Not a zip. The fabric itself responds. Optimised for 10–25°C — the exact range of a European commute from March to November. Waterproof and breathing at the same time. No other trench coat on the market does both.

Most waterproof coats are coated. A chemical layer sprayed onto the surface that degrades with every wash, every dry-clean, every season — until the coat that was sold as waterproof simply isn’t.
APA uses Schoeller® Nanosphere® instead. It is not a coating. It is a nanostructure built into the fabric itself, modelled on the surface of a lotus leaf. Water beads off. Nothing absorbs. Nothing stains. The structure does not wash out, does not wear off, and performs identically on day one and year ten. Machine-washable. No reproofing. No maintenance. Permanently waterproof — and permanently repellent to everything else — by design, not by chemical afterthought.
